Dear Samana Group family,
2022 was an important year for us.
In addition to private capital from the founders, we raised $2 million in a Seed Round from a group of successful global entrepreneurs and investors, as well as an international VC fund investing in private cities around the world.
This financing allows us to continue developing the detailed Master Plans for El Valle and Monte Rojo, build infrastructure, begin construction of the first projects, and launch sales of our real estate offerings.
Future residents of the El Valle and Monte Rojo communities will be able to choose from ocean-view and bay-view plots, high-quality prefabricated modular homes and apartments, as well as custom-built luxury villas.
A challenging fundraising journey
The round was not without challenges. We began fundraising exactly one week before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. We then paused the process for six months while we focused on helping refugees through the Maya Foundation, while many of our investors understandably had other priorities.
Making long-term investment decisions is difficult when the future of your own region feels uncertain. Still, we remained focused on our long-term vision.
What comes next
In 2023, we plan to raise a minimum of $10 million using innovative financing methods, including convertible notes and crowdfunding. Details of each initiative will be announced throughout the year.
By the end of 2024, our plan is to deploy a total of $100 million across the project, including through the launch of a Fideicomiso — a real estate trust issuing bonds.
This capital will help us deliver on our vision of creating a high-quality lifestyle in harmony with nature, supported by strong infrastructure and convenient connections with the rest of the world.
El Valle and Monte Rojo
Samana Group has secured the purchase of El Valle Vistas, the only mountain in El Valle with an ocean view designated for residential living.
This will become our first community on the ocean side of the peninsula, complementing Nomad City on the Samaná Bay side. Over time, these communities are intended to grow into a larger luxury eco-town.
We are continuing road construction within the community. Sales of the first 60 subdivided plots and houses are scheduled to begin by the end of January.
We have also made significant progress in Monte Rojo, home to the Luxury Villas and Nomad City projects.
Detailed offers will be available on our website by the end of January.
Growing the team
Our team expanded by 12 people across accounting, sales, engineering, and project management.
Our engineering team brings experience from large-scale residential projects, roads, bridges, water-treatment plants, dams, and even subway and nuclear power plant projects.
Other projects in development
Among the initiatives being developed are:
a Local Community Center by the Samana Group Foundation,
a Commercial Mini Center in El Valle,
affordable housing for staff,
a beach bar and beachfront eco-resort.
We have also explored El Valle, Monte Rojo, and Los Haitises National Park extensively with drones and cameras — giving our community a closer look at the extraordinary surroundings where these projects are taking shape.
