From New York to Warsaw
On May 31, 2023, we took part in a real estate event in New York focused on strengthening cooperation between the Dominican and U.S. property markets.
Samana Group was one of two companies invited to participate in the event organized by COMPASS, described in the original announcement as the largest real estate company in Florida.
Our next stop was Warsaw, where Marek Zmysłowski was scheduled to speak at the Women Investors Forum on June 3 about real estate investment and private cities in the Dominican Republic.
Exploring Samaná with Geography Now
We also had the opportunity to welcome Paul Barbs from Geography Now to Samaná.
During his visit with Marek and Yaritza from Samana Group, he explored the region’s distinctive microclimate, history, culture, and natural environment, including the legacy of the Cocolo community.
The visit offered another opportunity to present Samaná to an international audience and show why this part of the Dominican Republic continues to attract people from around the world.
Why our investors joined Samana Group
Our investors come to Samana Group for different reasons, but several themes consistently connect their stories.
Mateusz Kaszyk, Co-founder of adaily.co, CEO of langsoft.ai, and a real estate investor, highlighted the importance of geographic diversification in the context of geopolitical uncertainty. He pointed to the Dominican Republic’s growing economy, political stability, and proximity to the United States, while also emphasizing his long-standing trust in Marek Zmysłowski and his ambition to own a home in the Caribbean.
Anna Zielińska, Co-owner and CEO of stor9_, described her decision as deeply connected to her personal relationship with the Dominican Republic. She first visited the country 12 years earlier and, after discovering Las Terrenas, imagined returning one day to live there. Her belief in the concept of private towns became another reason to invest.
Przemysław Budnicki, Board Member, Seed Investor, CEO, Interim CEO, and Business Mentor, pointed to the combination of real estate, modern technologies such as modular construction and blockchain, and the experience and vision of the people behind Samana Group.
New York as a strategic market
Our visit to New York also reinforced our conviction that the city could become an important market for Samana Group.
Marek Zmysłowski highlighted several factors behind this view: New York’s large population, its direct connection with the Dominican Republic, the significant Dominican community living there, and the contrast between dense urban life and the warm climate and natural environment of Samaná.
The trip confirmed the level of familiarity many New Yorkers already have with the Dominican Republic — either through previous travel or plans to visit.
Recognition at the G2 Geopolitics Forum
Our next stop was Wrocław, where we attended the G2 Geopolitics Forum.
Marek Zmysłowski spoke about the future of private cities around the world and Samana Group’s approach to the concept. During the event, he was also recognized as Personality of the Year in the Innovation Category.

Eagles of Wprost
Marek Zmysłowski also received the Eagles of Wprost award in the Business Leader category, organized by Tygodnik Wprost under the auspices of Poland’s Ministry of Development Funds and Regional Policy.
The recognition highlighted his experience building businesses internationally while maintaining strong ties with Poland and supporting the next generation of entrepreneurs.
