Dominican Republic Named Latin America’s Leading Stable Investment Hub

The 2025 Latin America Country Risk Index by the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom at FIU ranked the Dominican Republic as the region’s most stable, trustworthy, and attractive investment destination.

According to the article, 76% of experts surveyed recommended investing in the country, ahead of Paraguay and Argentina.

Samaná Landbank Trust Raises Approximately $6.5 Million

The Samaná Landbank Trust secured approximately $6.5 million through its inaugural bond issuance using Swiss financial infrastructure.

The transaction was structured by Estating Group and issued with a Swiss ISIN, with securities held through SIX SIS.

The structure created international access to the Samaná land-banking strategy for accredited investors.

Dominican Republic Projects 11.7 Million Visitors

The country expected to reach approximately 11.7 million visitors in 2025.

By October, more than nine million travelers had already arrived, including approximately 2.1 million cruise passengers.

First Paris–Samaná Direct Flights Begin

Air Caraïbes announced the first direct flights between Paris Orly and Samaná, beginning December 15.

The route was scheduled to start with one weekly service and increase to two per week from January 12 using an Airbus A350-900.

Strong demand led the airline to extend the service through August 2026.

The route represented the first uninterrupted long-haul connection between Samaná and continental Europe.

Dominican Republic to Host 2027 UN Tourism General Assembly

The Dominican Republic was selected to host the 27th UN Tourism General Assembly in 2027.

The decision was adopted during the organization’s 26th Assembly in Saudi Arabia.

It will be the first time the country hosts the organization’s main global forum.

Preparations Begin for the 2026 Whale-Watching Season

Authorities completed the permitting process for whale-watching operators in Samaná, Las Galeras, Miches, and Sabana de la Mar.

The licensing system is intended to protect the marine environment while maintaining whale watching as an important source of income for coastal communities.

Renovated Samaná Malecón Performs During Heavy Rain

The upgraded Malecón successfully avoided flooding during recent heavy rainfall, according to Tourism Minister David Collado.

More than RD$1.7 billion had been invested in projects across the province, including road improvements and river clean-ups, with an additional RD$500 million planned.

Renewable Energy Target Reaches 25%

The government reiterated its objective of generating 25% of national electricity from renewable sources in 2025, up from approximately 19%.

Environment Minister Miguel Ceara Hatton highlighted growth in solar and wind installations supported by Law 57-07.

Renewable capacity had reached approximately 1.4 GW, more than double its 2020 level.
